PlanetCon at Quatama Elementary
January 23, 2020 - On Saturday, January 11, Quatama Elementary hosted PlanetCon, a free community recycling and swap event organized by Westside Master Recyclers. Students, families and staff collected recyclables including various forms of plastic, household batteries, polystyrene foam, electronics, computers and, yes, even candle wax. Also offered were a small appliance repair fair and sewing station, clothing donations, winter holiday décor swap, many information booths, and live music. In addition to student presentations, State Representative Janeen Sollman and other expert panelists discussed sustainable topics. Special thanks to Quatama principal Yolanda Coleman, teachers Sheila O’Leary and Patrick Brittenham, custodian Jorge Guzman and their student Green Team for their participation and hard work!
